MIH in JV with state-owned company in China

Wow, look at this

Then look at this, and you’ll know the news of the JV should not have surprised you.

And, look at this, and you’ll see yesterday’s article by Interfax China needs qualification: This might be MIH’s first JV with a state-owned media company in China, but it’s not Naspers’ first. At the end of last year the Cape-based newspaper Die Burger set up a JV with the same Anhui Daily Newspaper Group to publish Xin’an Evening Post.

Naspers and Anhui Daily Newspaper Group have obviously caught a liking in each other. Groot gatgabbas, as they say in the classics…As seems to be the case with Naspers and publishing group Georg von Holtzbrinck in Germany.

Look here, for an idea of the size of Anhui Daily Newspaper Group and to see what a state-owned media group in China does between breakfast and lunch. When I read that, I couldn’t help but think of this. (Doesn’t web journalism make fun? Soon, we’ll all be communicating in one-word sentences…)

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find detail about yesterday’s JV and what it’ll be about. That will, no doubt, be announced by MIH in the next day or two.
